Manganese Octoate

Manganese 2-EthylHexanoate

  • Manganese octoate is the second most important primary drier and due to its intermediate activity it promotes surface and through drying
  • It has both oxidizing and polymerizing properties
  • When manganese is used alone it may produce too hard and too brittle films
  • Because of its relative dark color, manganese drier has a tendency to discolor white or light finishes
  • Manganese drier gives good results in low temperatures drying and in high humidity conditions

  • Manganese octoate is often used alone in backing finishes and in combination with Lead and Cobalt in air-dry applications
  • Manganese is also used in combination with Cobalt in the offset printing ink applications
  • Manganese octoate is not recommended in white finishes due to its dark brown color
